Equator

Some interesting facts:

Ever observe which direction the water turns when it is being drained into the sink? I bet many people don’t observe and never realise this interesting thing. For countries in Nothern Hemisphere, like Singapore, the water drains in the anti-clockwise direction. And for countries in Southern Hemisphere, the water drains in the clockwise direction. What about for those places directly on the equator? The water will just drain directly down. Cool right! I tried it yesterday and it is really true. Even if you are only a few metres away from the equator, the water will drain in the direction to which hemisphere you are in. One day, if I go to a country in Southern Hemisphere, I will remember to observe whether the water will drain in the clockwise direction.

Also, another fact. When you are standing at the equator, you will be lighter by about 1 kg. This is due to the lesser gravitational pull. Which means that, you maybe able to carry someone a little heavier than you which you normally could not.

One place you could go to where you can see the Equator line is Ecuador, situated in the northern side of South America, above Peru.
